Used up in Ushuaia (Argentina)

Someone lost a grip (a very old used and worn brown knit with black plastic grip bumps) in the southern most city of South America. Down here in Tierra del Fuego penguins rule the barren islands off the coast, they're painted on buildings and adults in penguin costumes approach shoppers outside souvenir shops (selling glass, wooden, plastic and paper penguins, of course).

Back in San Diego

Kearny Mesa: in a huge lot that was possibly going to be condo's 5 months ago - I've returned to Southern California to find more empty, bare lots that seem to have no buildings planned now - a 'G Tech/Maxi Tech' - size L, lost grip (left) - fake black suede with a grey knit wrist, excellent condition, lying on a flattened cigarette filter . . .

A Collapsed Cajun

In Abbeville, Louisiana: Run over and totally flattened in a Louisiana bayou parking lot - a leftie, light orange canvas work glove with suede trim around the palm and finger tips.

Two on the Blue (Ridge Parkway in VA)

On the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA (at the Farm Museum), I found a lost grip today - a very worn fleece glove (left) - a man's size with holes in the finger tips.

Several hours later at Crabtree Falls - just next to the parking lot in the leaves, another left - a leather work glove with a tiny red bead on the pull tie at the wrist.

Tattered on Taylors Island, MD

A camo knit (left) glove found in the grass at the Bethlehem Methodist Episcopal church (1857) on the wind swept rural peninsula of Taylors Island, MD on the east side of Chesapeake Bay.

Listless in Lancaster, PA

A leftie lying listless in the recent rain, lost on a curb in front of Wal*Mart. This lost grip has a cute little embrodered white cat carrying a pink purse. A favorite glove for sure.

Cherryfield, Maine

Found in *The Blueberry Capital of the World* they claim - a grip fallen by the bridge where Route #1 meets Route #193 . . . a men's large black knit with a nicely trimmed wrist.

Lobster Blues

Deer Isle, Maine - The lobster industry here is losing more than a grip. Meat prices have plummeted and the fishermen just can't cover their expenses. Stacks of unused cages are piling up on the docks and filling the fields of fishing towns.

A Triple in Maine Today!

A man's large cotton working glove (right) - found on Beal's Island, Maine by one of the largest lobster pounds in the area.

And then about 20 yards away, at the same lobster pound - a grimy blue (left) rubber work glove.

Machias, Maine: Flat and soaked in the rain, a medium size (left) grey knit, lost grip - found at the Mobile station next to the Machais Falls on Highway #1.

Misplaced in Maine

Later this afternoon, found at the end of a wooded peninsula at Naskeag Point near Acadia National Park in Maine - a nearly new, excellent condition Gor-Tex brand, thickly padded camo colored man's ski type glove - just flopped on the beach with a huge pile of lobster traps nearby in the shallow water.

Bungled in Bar Harbor, Maine

On a cold icy morning, in a parking lot on Cottage Street across from Cafe Milagro, in Bar Harbor, Maine - a lone left - a woman's black fabric glove, lost near parked cars.

Southwest Harbor, Maine

On a country road not far from Acadia National Park on the coast of Maine - like a discarded dog left behind after the family moves, this lost grip (a right, grey working glove in good condition) was left on the lawn when the house got locked up and the For Sale sign pounded into the ground.

Shaniko, Oregon

In the wind swept town of Shaniko, Oregon, I found a lost grip (leather workman's) on a spider web covered ledge of one of the historic old buildings.

Sailing no more - found aboard an abandonded wooden boat in the fields of Lopez Island, WA -

- a stiff, torn and dirty leather work glove . . . a lefty.

Collapsed Near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Flattened, cracked and weather beaten, I found this left knit work glove beside Route 95 while on my way to Sandpoint, Idaho.

Next to the Chatham Fish Pier (Cape Cod) MA

By a dead seagull with fresh bird tracks in the sand, I found a blue rubber glove - a right, half covered with blown sand.

Muddy and Motley in MA

Rotting and beached in a grassy field, in Chatham, MA (Cape Cod), this old wooden canoe wouldn't be paddled anymore.

Inside on the splintered wood - someone had left a blue and white knit work glove, a left.

Numb in Niagara, Canada

Left on the Canadian side railing, a woman's right glove - black knit, soaking wet and so cold it was nearly frozen stiff.

Here's a Hand in Michigan

This lost grip almost reached out to those driving and walking by - on Route #26 that goes through the little village of Ahmeek on the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. A right black rubber glove was stuck on a stick wedged in beside a telephone pole.

Sheridan, Wyoming

Early in the cold morning as I drove out of Sheridan, Wyoming - passing 5th and Lincon Dr., I saw this right, leather workman's glove fallen in the middle of the sidewalk. Heavily soiled and stiff with dirt and grime, I imagine its mate is in the trash by now.
